About the studio
We opened
in 2026
SAJW Group is an independent visual design studio in Amsterdam. Four people, one standard, and a deliberate refusal to grow faster than the quality can hold.
We formed around a shared frustration: too much design is judged in the presentation room and never tested where it actually lives. Our answer was to build a studio that starts with the hardest application rather than the prettiest one.
We work across branding, 3D and motion, digital design and art direction — as one team rather than four departments, because the interesting problems never respect the category boundaries.

Origin — 2025 / 2026
The studio began as a standing Thursday evening in a borrowed room above a print shop in Amsterdam. Four people from four different practices, working on briefs nobody had asked for, mostly to answer arguments we could not settle in conversation.
The room had a proof press in it. That turned out to matter. Everything we made had to be resolved enough to print, and printing a thing tends to end a debate faster than another round of comments. The registration marks and specimen labels running through our identity are not a nostalgia exercise — they are where the studio was actually assembled.
By January 2026 there were six finished concepts, a written method, and no good reason to keep it as a side project. SAJW Group opened properly that month.
We are taking two engagements for the second half of 2026. After that, we will see what the work asks for.
What we hold to
01
Systems over artefacts
A logo is a by-product. What we hand over is a set of rules with reasons attached, so the hundredth application is as considered as the first.
02
Argument before taste
Every direction arrives with the thinking written down. Decisions made on reasoning survive a change of stakeholder; decisions made on preference do not.
03
Constraint is the brief
Budget, stock, print method, load time — the limits are not obstacles to the idea. They are what makes one idea better than another.
04
Documentation is delivery
If a designer who has never met us cannot extend the system correctly, we have not finished, however good the artwork looks.
The people
- S
S. Aldridge
Founder, Creative Director
Sets the studio line. Type, identity systems, and the argument behind each direction.
- A
A. Jorgensen
Design Director, Digital
Interfaces and design systems. Believes an undocumented component does not exist.
- J
J. Marin
Director, 3D & Motion
Procedural pipelines, look development, and rendering things that should not render.
- W
W. Okonkwo
Studio Director
Scope, schedule and production. The reason the work arrives on the date we said.
The method
- 01
Interrogate
A week of questions before a single mark is made. We read your material, talk to the people who will live with the work, and write the brief we think you actually have.
- 02
Direct
Two or three genuinely different directions — not one idea in three colourways. Each is argued in writing so the decision is made on reasoning, not taste.
- 03
Build
The chosen direction is extended into a working system and stress-tested against the least glamorous applications you own. If it breaks there, it is not finished.
- 04
Hand over
Documentation, source files and a working session with your team. We stay reachable after delivery, because the system only earns out if it is used correctly.
